CAMINO: THEOLOGY ONLINE

The Southeast Pastoral Institute (SEPI) and the University of Notre Dame, are united to offer CAMINO, an online program of theological formation for diocesan groups. Camino is a program of online Catholic theology courses that comes from the collaboration of SEPI (The Southeast Pastoral Institute) and STEP from the University of Notre Dame. Camino courses are designed by both university professors and leaders for Hispanic ministry of the Catholic Church.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

- Weekly readings of assigned texts
- Participation in class discussions using the forum area (minimum 2 comments, questions or weekly responses).
- Weekly written assignment (150-200 words)
- Weekly chat session with other students in the course (4 sessions are required during the course).

A facilitator prepared in theology guides the course to encourage the participation of all in a dynamic community of virtual learning. The courses last between 4 and 7 weeks, depending on the participant. The first week is an orientation so that all participants in the class get to know each other and to get used to the course website. After the orientation, each week concentrates on a topic of the class.

We currently offer “El Camino de la Fe” - a dynamic introduction to the Catholic faith based on The United States Catholic Catechism for Adults. The course deals with topics such as: the development of faith, the Sacred Scriptures, the Creeds, the Church, the Sacraments, the liturgy, prayer and Christian morality.
